  • Pro-JECT: Third Meeting, July 14th, at 8pm!

Yes this is a laaaaate posting but better late then never and I don't plan to make late posting a habit. >.> Nyah! :-p

*ahem* Anyway: (Credit to Shin for notes):

    Meeting Info

    - The mascot's name is officially PJ.

    - Our official colors are black and pink

    - To add onto our writing guidelines, if a band we're contacting doesn't have a Myspace then we will include " I would love to see you get a Myspace" (or something like that) in our letters addressed to them.

    - Continue advertising wherever you can but always check the main post to see where we already have groups created.

    - The Officers are as follows:

    +President: Shintotchi
    +Vice President: VisualMadness69 and Cheministic
    +Chief Editor: PinkLadyDiva
    +Web Administrator: Akiyoshi
    +Flyers: Tsukiko
+Shintotchi Editor: Aiwin XD (jk jk)

We decided officers were needed since someone needs to run the meetings when I can't be there on time/make it. XD

I (Shin) created two flyers and three stationary samples to write on if you're doing snail mail. I printed out the writing stationary and it went smoothly so it shouldn't be a strain on the printer. ^^ Let me know what you think in case I need to change something ^^; And I had to upload them since I was too lazy to go into photoshop and save them as images. :/ Sorry

    The stationaries:

  • Pro-JECT: Second Meeting, July 14, at 7pm

Late entry I know, I've been busy, sleepy, and lazy. SO! Monday ... we JRR staff member peeps joined up again to talk about who our mascot will be, to make the official vote and pick, and to talk about mailing the bands. Mailing in the way of snail mail, official home page, and myspace page. This is all going to start on August 4th!

Okay, so the notes from the meeting, credit to Shintotchi. (Note: OHP = Official Home Page.)

    Our new mascot: http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l123/Belabi/Pro-JECTMascot.jpg

    - We will officially begin contacting artists on August 4th, a Monday. We will be contact 4 artists through Myspace and through their OHP (Official Homepage) every Monday of a month. At the end of each month we will be sending snail mail to two different artists.

    - In August I will require all JRR members who want to send snail mail to pm me for my address. For August you will have to send me the letters between August 12 and August 25th, but that's only because I am moving. Normally (for any month afterwards) you will only have to send me the letters before the 25th of that month as I will be sending them all out around the 30th.

    - For all Myspace/blog users, as it's dangerous posting my address like that  I will require that you type your letter, and if possible, sign it using paint or whatever you can. You guys will be emailing me your letters and I will print them out and mail them. I will go into further detail on that as the time draws near.

-When you send me your snailmail you will put your letters in already stamped envelopes and put the return address on it. The return address goes in the upper left hand corner and it's just putting your name and address there so that if the letter gets lost they know where to send it back to. Also it will let the j-rockers know where their letters are coming from. On the middle of the envelope where you'd normally put who the letter is addressed to, put the band name and the member it's addressed to. Do not put the address on their however. You will be putting both letters into a manilla envelope with my name and address on it (stamped of course) and will mail the manilla envelope to me. I will be writing in the addresses on your envelopes and making sure everything is sent off at the same time.

    - We discussed having a pro-JECT stationary so that the j-rockers will notice that we're all from the same group when we read our letters. I will create a (printer friendly) stationary with our mascot on it and will post that up when the time comes to write.

    - We decided to start writing in August instead of July so that we can keep on schedule with contacting bands. All in all it should take 7 months to contact all the bands (listed so far) on Myspace and their OHP and it should take between 14 and 16 months to contact them all through snailmail.

-We mentioned contacting companies and venues, but that's our second priority. We will discuss contacting them more seriously in about 8 months. By then we'll have gotten a bulk of the contacting done and we'll have more energy to focus on the companies.

    - The first four bands we are going to contact are Dir en grey, The Underneath, Alice Nine, and The Gazette. The first two that we're contacting by snail mail are Dir en grey and The Underneath.

    - A question was asked that if you don't listen to/like the band that is up for that month do you have to write them? Well of course we only want sincere letters sent to our artists, so please don't force yourself to write. We only ask that you participate in the Myspace contact day to show support for the group, as that doesn't require a letter to write but rather more of a "I'm from such and such state- please come to the east coast!" sort of thing.

-Also another point was brought up that we have three ways of contacting the artists. You can contact them all three ways. And if you want, you can write all 5 (or however many) members of the band. But make sure you only contact them once. We don't want to seem like rabid fans or anything. I doubt we have enough energy to write more than once, but for the ones that do- limit yourselves okay?

    - When we contact the Myspaces we'll be leaving a message addressed to the entire band (unless it's an individual band member's Myspace). When we send snail mail and OHP fanmail however just address your letter to your favorite member. Hopefully there will be alot of variety in everyone's favorite member, so that each member gets contacted. If I see a member is left out I'll contact them myself. Again, do not force yourself to write to a member if you don't really want to.

    - I will be mailing an official letter from Pro-JECT with our mission statement in it to each band. More likely than not it will be through snailmail.

    - If a band we're contacting does not have a Myspace, then we will just not have a Myspace to contact for that week. We will go ahead with contacting their OHP and snail mailing them.

-Later on I will post up mailing guidelines for those who are unsure of what to put. Also, when the time comes, I will be posting up the band, their OHP, and their Myspace link (if they have one) so things can go smoothly when we start contacting them.

Below are the guidelines for contacting the bands.

    Snail Mail

    {Opening} Dear *band member*

{Introduction} In this opening paragraph mention who you are, where you're from and that you want them to come to the East Coast.

{Body} This is where you put all of your personal stuff. Why you like them. How long you've been a fan. What their music means to you or how badly you want to see them live. How much they mean to you- whatever personal thing it is that you want them to know. (No sexual things, plzthx)

{Closer} Re-state that you would support them coming to perform overseas and how much you really hope they come to your state or to the East Coast.

{End} Sincerely (Love, From, or whatever ending words you like to use) and then your name.

PS: If you want to make a little drawing or put stickers on or whatever feel free to! If you know a little Japanese feel free to use that too. ^^

    OHP Fanmail

This is alot more informal so you can just delve into it.

{Opening} State who you are, where you are, and that you want them to come there.

{Body} All the personal things you want to tell that member.

{Ending} Restate that you want them to come to the East Coast and that you support them coming overseas.

You can end it however you like with a "good luck!" or a "thanks for reading" if you can't think of anything else.

    Myspace Comments

These are going to be comments- not letters. So they'll be pretty to the point.

Hey- my name is *insert here* and I'm from *insert here*
Mention how long you've been a fan or how much you've been waiting to see them in concert before going into " I really hope when you decide to come to the US you will visit the East Coast so I can see you live!
And then you'll end it with something quick/simple like "Go *insert band name*! Or...whatever you want. lol

You Myspace comment shouldn't be more than a paragraph. Save the long stuff for the fanmail and snailmail. Make sure your state and East Coast are nice and readable . X3

Simple right? Are there any more questions on the letter forms?

If there are any questions send me a msg on here in the comments area, I'll do my best to check this every few days. Also, spread the word if you know someone that would be interested in this!

  • Pro-JECT: First Meeting, June 30th, at 7pm

(For those following silently or actively, last night at 7pm all the Pro-JECT members of JRR got together in a chat room and talked about what is going to happen next. I believe there is going to be a post made summing up everything done so far and once that is made I'll let you all know. For now I just have info on the meeting, which was successfully fun. Anyway, on to the news!)

    * Notes by Shintotchi things in () are my addition and I will be editing it a bit for the sake of those not members of JRR to eliminate any confusion:

-Get all your favorite bands in: If you don't see the band that you want to write listed (send me a PM with) the band you want to have contacted. (This list will be at the end of the post as well as being in the intro post I made.)

-Mascots are important and Pro-JECT wants one. We narrowed the mascot of choice down to three animals: a Hummingbird, a Panther, and a Robot. If you have a preference for one of the three please voice it so we can have a vote. Either way I, Tsukiko, and anyone who feels inclined will be trying to draw mascots and we'll post pictures so you guys can pick which ones you like best. The main goal is to have an official mascot chosen by Monday, July 7th. (Those not a member on JRR can still go to the site and see the pics of the mascots and if a poll isn't made for voting and you don't want to join JRR to say what one you like, just PM me what one you like the best and I'll pass it on in the thread.)

-Mailing Artists was also discussed. We decided on setting a goal to send snail mail to two bands a month, Fan mail [on their OHPs] to four bands a month and Myspace comments to four bands a month. We will be contacting one artist a week for the online mail.

-Concerning snail mail: If you decide to send snail mail. I will set a time frame for the letters to arrive to me and I will send all the letters off at once so they get to the jrockers at the same time in bulk. I however will not hand out my address to Myspace members and will have them just email me their letter with their signature on it [if they can do that] and I will print those out and mail them.

Also if you are writing snail mail be sure to write the letter to your favorite member of the band so that each band member will receive a letter. I will be writing both for myself and sending a letter on behalf of Pro-JECT. Diva I was hoping we could use your letter as the official Pro-JECT letter with maybe a few spare paragraphs added on by the other members?

We will hopefully start writing by mid July. As in like the 14th. For those unsure of what to write I will provide a letter guideline that you can look at to help you with what to write. I probably won't have that up till tomorrow though since it's so late XD (I will post her guideline once she posts it.)

Also we briefly mentioned making a sticker with the mascot on it to put on all the snail mail when I mail it out so they know we're all from the same organization- either that or having special paper everyone can print out with the mascot on it. Let us know what you think about the idea.

I suppose I could start separating when we contact artists. I'm putting the artists who have already been to the US [as they're the most likely to come] at the top of the list and then the ones who have been to Europe or have mentioned coming over here soon.

    1. Dir en grey
    2. the Underneath

this is the order I've gotten so far. Seem fair?

I bolded every two bands so we can get an idea which bands we're contacting through snail mail per month. And I separated the bands by four so you could still see which ones we'd be contacting overall in that order.

(That is all, when I get more information I will post it up. If you have any questions just PM me and I will answer them as quickly and effeciantly as possible!)

  • Welcome to Pro-JECT (Jrock in the East Coast!)

"Tired of having to miss good Jrock Concerts? Don't have the money to travel West to see them? This is the group to help solve that problem. Pro-JECT is an awareness project to help gain the attention of Japanese Music artists and the US music industry to prove that there is a thriving community of Japanese rock lovers amongst the East Coast. This is a street team of sorts for all us East Coasterners to band together and show that there is an audience on the other side of the States. THE EAST COAST CALLS FOR JROCK!!" - credit to Akiyoshie.
